About Packshots & product renders

CGI packshots are studio-quality product images rendered from a digital model instead of photographed, either on pure white or in a more editorial composition. They power product pages, catalogs, ad campaigns and launches, and they really pay off when a range comes in many colorways or when the item has not yet left the factory. It also spares you a new shoot for every new color, since the same model can be re-rendered as often as you need.

The artist delivers a consistent image set covering front, three-quarter, back and detail angles, and often a hero shot with carefully shaped reflections and shadows for a homepage banner. Files usually arrive as clipped PNGs or high-resolution TIFFs on a pure white background suited to marketplace requirements. KeyShot, Blender, Cinema 4D and 3ds Max with Corona or V-Ray are the most widely used tools for this work.

The ideal starting point is a CAD file such as STEP, IGES or a native SolidWorks part, or failing that, photos from several angles with measurements. Add color references, physical material samples if possible, labels and logos as vector files, and one or two images whose lighting you like. The more precisely materials are described, the more faithful the renders will be. Finally, list the platforms where the images will appear and their size requirements, so the artist frames each shot accordingly.

On hi-3d, the Packshots & product renders subcategory within Product & E-commerce brings specialist artists together. Browse their services, compare portfolios, pricing and turnaround, invite the one whose style matches your brand, then follow previews and revisions in the project conversation through to delivery. A classic use case is a cosmetics line rendered in ten shades from a single model. Find the right artist for your next set of CGI packshots.
