3D product animation stages every angle, material and feature of an object in a film you control from start to finish, with no studio or crew required. It is used for launches, CGI commercials, social media, product pages and trade shows, and it can show what a camera cannot capture: an internal mechanism, a splash of liquid frozen mid-air, or parts coming together one by one. It is worth planning during product development, since the same model later feeds still images and ad variations.

The deliverable is an MP4 or MOV video, usually short, cut in horizontal, vertical and square versions, with or without sound design. The artist can add fluids, particles, splashes and slow motion. Cinema 4D with Redshift or Octane, Blender, 3ds Max and Houdini for simulations are the classic tools, followed by editing and color grading in After Effects or DaVinci Resolve. Camera moves, timing and transitions are planned in an animatic before final rendering begins.

To frame the project well, provide the 3D model or CAD files, material references, a script or at least the key messages, reference films, target length and formats, and the music or sound mood you have in mind. Approving a storyboard early helps avoid costly revisions down the line. Also name the target platforms: a video for a trade show screen is cut very differently from a vertical clip for social feeds.
