About Building & site scanning

Building 3D laser scanning records the exact geometry of an existing structure, from basement to roof, so your design starts from reliable data instead of outdated or partial drawings. Architects, owners, engineers, property managers and interior designers order it ahead of a renovation, an extension, a vertical addition, an office fit-out or a permit submission.

The surveyor sets up a laser scanner such as a Faro or Leica RTC360 in every room and around the façades, registers the scans and produces an E57 or RCP point cloud. From that cloud they draft floor plans, sections and elevations in DWG or PDF, and can add a Matterport virtual tour or panoramic photos. Before the site visit, share the address, floor area, number of levels, spaces to capture, access constraints and any existing plans, plus the drawing scale and layer standards you want the as-built set to follow. For heritage buildings, ornate details can be captured at a higher density.

On hi-3d, you browse as-built survey services, compare portfolios, rates and lead times, and invite the specialist who suits your building. The project conversation is where you schedule the visit, share documents and follow progress. You first get a preview of the cloud or the initial plans, request adjustments through revision rounds and then download the final deliverables.

A typical case: an interior designer takes over an office floor with no current drawings. One building 3D laser scanning campaign delivers the point cloud, DWG plans and an immersive tour to walk the client through the space before any wall is moved. If you need a Revit model rather than 2D drawings, look at our Scan-to-BIM subcategory as well. Explore the specialists in 3D Scanning & Drone Survey and invite the right one for your site.
